Cranberry Rose Gin Toddy

The classic recipe for a hot toddy — arguably the quintessential winter cocktail — combines whiskey, hot water, lemon juice, and honey. For today's toddy, we're swapping the brown spirit for clear and playing up the floral and botanical flavors of the gin as the base spirit by adding Cranberry Rose Mixicles to the mix.

While whiskey has long been considered medicinal (and the traditional hot toddy a cold-remedy cocktail), gin also has health benefits. Gin is made from juniper berries, which are full of antioxidants and contain flavonoids — phytonutrients that help prevent heart disease and improving blood circulation. Gin is also one of the least calorific spirits, making it a great after-dinner drink choice for your Thanksgiving feast.

For this recipe, we're using lime juice instead of lemon because we love how lime pairs with gin. And the Cranberry Rose Mixicles not only add tartness and fragrant floral notes, but also give the toddy a beautiful, brilliant hue.

CRANBERRY ROSE GIN TODDY

Ingredients:

  • 2 Cranberry Rose Mixicles® cubes, thawed
  • 1½ oz. gin
  • ½ oz. lime juice
  • 4 oz. hot water
  • Honey to taste
  • Lime wheel for garnish

How to Mix:

Fill the serving mug with hot water and let the mug warm. In another glass, combine the gin, thawed Mixicles® cubes, and lime juice. Discard the hot water in the mug, then fill it with 4 ounces of very hot water and the rest of your ingredients, including the honey. If it’s not quite warm enough for your liking, heat in the microwave for 20 seconds. Garnish with a lime wheel and enjoy!
